The NAPT Education Committee Presents:
Workshops Focusing on Bibliotherapy Around the World
Spotlight on THE UK
The Power of Poetry - Personal, Social, Political, and... Portable.
About Jon Sayers
Jon Sayers is a poet, life coach, and journal facilitator, who has worked with adolescents in residential care, older women caregivers, and inmates of London's Pentonville Prison. His poems, translations and reviews have appeared in leading UK magazines and his essay on Poetry and the Science of Surprise will appear in the forthcoming Routledge title 'Writing for Wellbeing: Research, Theory and Practice' in the spring.
The UK poetry therapy scene is flourishing - and growing, year on year, with more and more people training in therapeutic writing and a smorgasbord of workshops being offered in a wide variety of flavours. This session will be led by the UK NAPT Rep, Jon Sayers, along with Certified Poetry Therapists Victoria Field and Charmaine Pollard. They'll give you a whistle-stop tour of Poetry Therapy in the UK, along with writing exercises drawn from the work they've each been doing over the last couple of years: in the fields of personal development, building community, and political and social awareness. We also hope to have a Lapidus representative present to answer any questions about our own UK-based international words for wellbeing association.
