Workshops Focusing on Bibliotherapy Around the World
Spotlight on Israel: Hamila-The Israeli Bibliotherapy Center

How to change my story - Techniques for expanding, broadening, and deepening our self-stories

Dr. Tafat Nachmani holds a PhD in Expressive Arts Therapy. She is a certified and experienced Bibliotherapist based in Israel and serves as the head of supervision at Ha-Mila, The Israeli Bibliotherapy Center. She works with adolescents and adults in both the public and private sectors, providing therapy, parental guidance and supervision. Dr. Tafat Nachmani conducts Bibliotherapy workshops for different groups, teaching Bibliotherapy at the Bar-Ilan University and Hebrew University.

What is MY story? The one that is being told in various manners throughout my life? What need does it serve? We need stories to turn life experiences into meaning. But sometimes, stories can narrow and limit our perspective. In The Hero's Journey, be it a realistic or fictional, the essence of the story is change: The main character is called to leave his or her familiar world and march into the unknown. They embark on a journey, not knowing what is coming their way. But one thing is for sure: At the end, they will not be quite the same as they were before. In this workshop, we will explore and experiment different ways to modify, expand and play with our stories as a way of growth, development and self-discovery.
