Several didactic, experiential, and training workshops in the field of poetry therapy, journal therapy and other forms of expressive writing for healing and personal growth will be offered.

The scenic campus is located at 1901 NW Blue Parkway, Unity Village, Missouri, 15 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.  The closest international airport to fly into is MCI airport, 45 minutes away. Look for further details in the coming months on event programming, scholarships, and special events. There will be shuttle service recommended for transportation to and from the airport, and information on how to share shuttle service for discounted fares will be available as well. Unity Village will be partnering with the Hampton Inn Kansas City-Lee’s Summit for lodging in case there is any overflow of attendees.

If you wish to apply, submit your name, e-mail, regular mailing address and major field of endeavor, along with a brief essay of no more than 500 words indicating your professional/educational links to poetry therapy and reasons for wishing to attend the NAPT conference. The deadline for applications is February 6th, 2015. If you have already registered you may still apply and if you are awarded the scholarship you will be reimbursed that amount. Applicants will be notified before March 1st of their acceptance. Please send all application letters to Barbara Kreisberg, Conference Chair at bkexpres@aol.com.

Book Sale

This is an opportunity for our attendees and/or workshop presenters to showcase and sell their books. If you are interested, please send the following information to Barbara Kreisberg at bkexpres@aol.com:

  • Author’s Name
  • Book Title
  • Cost of Book (rounded to the nearest dollar)
  • Number of copies to be brought to conference

**We would greatly appreciate it if authors would donate 15% of their sales to NAPT. Unfortunately we cannot accept credit cards, so attendees would have to pay in cash or by check. Book sellers would be responsible for bringing their books to the conference and taking home any unsold books.

Airport Information and Shuttle Service from the airport
is available on the Registration Form.

Call for Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers who would be able to devote 1-3 hours of their time to helping to set up and/or run the Registration Table and help at the Book Sale. Volunteers will be able to get a $15 discount per hour (up to three hours) off of their Registration Fee.

We are also looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who would oversee the Registration table as well as a Book Sale Coordinator who would oversee the book sales (Good organizational skills, sales experience and good calculation skills preferred). These two individuals would have their Registration fees waived, and would be able to attend workshops at the conference if they ensure full coverage of both areas during the day by themselves or from a committee of volunteers.

Contact Barbara Kreisberg at bkexpres@aol.com if interested in any of the above items or if you have any questions. Thank you!
