Who can join the National Association for Poetry Therapy?
Membership in the National Association for Poetry Therapy is open to anyone who shares our mission: Promoting growth and healing through language, symbol and story. Our members include people who have found, in their personal lives or their professional endeavors, that words and stories contribute to personal growth, self-understanding, community-building, and emotional well-being.
What benefits will I receive as a member of NAPT?
Benefits include publications, discounted conference fees, and a variety of opportunities for connecting with others who share your interest in the healing power of words. Click on the Membership Benefits link at the top of this page for a complete list.
What is Institutional Membership?
Institutional membership is designed for academic institutions, health care facilities, corporations, and other entities who wish to provide a higher level of support for NAPT in exchange for benefits which enhance their ability to connect with NAPT members. Please see the Institutional Membership page for more information.
Are any discounts available to reduce the cost of membership?
NAPT offers reduced membership rates to students who are enrolled full-time in a college or university, and to seniors (age 65 and over). These membership categories and rates are provided on the membership application page.
Has your membership information changed?
If so, please send all changes of address, phone, e-mail, etc., to Stephanie Christenson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are payment plans available for membership dues?
No. The administrative costs of such arrangements are prohibitive for NAPT at this time. You may, however, pay by credit card on our membership application.
The membership year has already started. Do I have to pay for the full year?
NAPT’s membership year begins January 1 of each year and ends on December 31 of the next year. A reduced rate (for New Members only) is offered after June 30th for those who join in the middle of the year. We encourage all renewing members to send in dues payments prior to January 1st to ensure that they do not miss any publications or announcements. Renewing members always pay the full year’s dues even if they renew after January 1st.
