NAPT Annual Conference 2010:
Call for Proposals
The National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT) invites you to submit an original workshop proposal for our 30th Annual Conference, “Looking Forward, Looking Back, Coming Home: Celebrating Thirty Years of Promoting Growth and Wellness through Language, Symbol, and Story," to be held April 7-11, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza National Airport Hotel in Arlington, VA.
We invite proposals for 60-, 90- and 120- minute workshops covering any aspect of the use of poetry, literature, journaling, creative writing, storytelling, performing and expressive arts, and related fields. As we will be very close to Washington, DC and The Mall, workshop proposals that involve movement and/or walking excursions beyond the hotel walls will be especially well received. Panel discussions and poster sessions are also welcome. There will be fees for A/V equipment such as CD players, LCD projectors, etc., so please keep presentations as simple as possible, i.e. flip charts instead of PowerPoint, etc. There is no monetary compensation for presenting. The deadline for workshop, poster session, and panel discussion proposals is October 1, 2009.
Those who have successfully offered an NAPT conference workshop in the past are welcome to submit a proposal for pre- and post-conference workshops to be held on Thursday, April 8 and Sunday, April 11.
HOW TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL:
Please download, complete, and email (in a single Word file) the following form and all supporting documents (250-word workshop description, a current one-page CV for each presenter, a statement from each presenter that they have neither been sanctioned nor had any adverse actions against him or her in the past five years, where relevant by license) to Rob Merritt (rmerritt@bluefield.edu)
It is not necessary to send a hard copy of your proposal. If you do not have an email account and prefer to send your proposal by regular mail, send 6 collated copies of all components to Rob Merritt, Department of English, Bluefield College, 3000 College Drive, Bluefield, VA 24605.
Proposals must be postmarked or emailed by October 1, 2009. Receipt of proposals will be acknowledged by email only unless an SASE is enclosed with a hard copy. Please note that we are requesting ONE contact person per proposal; co-presenters should coordinate with each other and through that contact person. Incomplete application packages and those that are emailed or postmarked after October 1, 2009, will not be considered.
